Day 5 Joshua National Tree Park, California "
Did you know Princess Megan Rose Joshua trees aren't actually trees—they're succulents, a type of plant that stores water. In their dry ecosystems, however, they are considered trees of the desert.
Joshua Tree National Park is known for its population of bobcats. Some desert plants, like succulents and cacti, contain water and can be a source for bobcats in addition to the moisture obtained from their prey. It may not be an ideal environment for the cats, but these cats have been able to survive and thrive in these environments. Although they have a very short life span in these kinds of areas. You're very lucky, you didn't become prey. |

I had just this morning cut up cheesy jalapeño sausage and fried eggs on top of a tortilla shell with Mexican cheese. I folded it into a wrap, put it in the microwave for about 15 seconds... Heaven. I can't believe StephBee made faces, its so good. You're right the salmon wasn't as good as fresh Alaskan salmon but it was filling.
I agree with you the night sky in the desert with no light pollution is exhilarating to see. I swear I could touch the stars.
The group photo by the 40 foot Joshua Tree is going to be one of our cherished memories from this trip. |

Fireworks"
Sounds like a nice day mostly. Sometimes I almost wish I was back where I could walk to lots of things. Not much to walk to around here, and the evening was eeriely quiet. I think the folks who used to blast fireworks about a block away must be gone, maybe moved? Didn't even go out to look down to see the resorts display. Actually, a pleasant evening.
I know how you feel when you walk in to help and find that you're the only one who can make sense of things. I also usually end up having to do the cleanup when everyone else figures their time is up. |

Well, Should We, Or Should We Not?"
Glad you know someone who has expertise in that field. A van or motorhome I can live out of would solve quite a few problems for me (probably create a couple as well). I thought about this years ago. |

The 4th here was rainy. Even got unexpected rain today. Because fire-in-the-woods is a racial memory we aren't big on starting fires.

Your farm sounds lovely especially the mini orchard and the bee hives 😁. I don't know much about Arkansas I have to say, I imagine a lot of it is quite rural? I definitely appreciated the beans on toast 😅😅 |

Day 4 Garvan Woodlands, Hot Springs, Arkansas"
I'm not really a fan of camping either, I like to sleep in a comfy bed and have a proper bathroom, and somewhere to plug in my hair straighteners 😅😅
I like your description of the gardens 🩷 |

Great word choices, Joy, they made the visual imagery fill my mind as I read. I had a lot of sunburns as a child, and too many days with sticky hands. Those were good memories for sure. |
